Service Learning Day
On Tuesday November 24th we are going to be participating in our service learning day. For our community project we are walking to a local church to donate items families in the community need. Below is a list of items to donate. Please send any donations in with your child no later than Tuesday November 24th. Also please send your child’s permission slip in a.s.a.p. Please let me know if you need another slip. Thank you for your support!

Thanksgiving Lunch
Wednesday November 18th is Thanksgiving Lunch. All families are welcome to join their student for lunch. Our lunch is from 10:50-11:15.

Henry and Mudge
Thursday November 19th is our trip to the DuPont Theatre to see Henry and Mudge. We will be having lunch in our classroom prior to leaving. If you did not sign up for a bag lunch from the cafeteria please send one for your child. We will be leaving at 10:30 and returning at 2:00.

PJ Day
Friday November 20th is PJ day. Students may wear their PJ’s to school for $3.

Clayton Fire House
Our trip to the Clayton Fire House is scheduled for October 7th. Please make sure students are wearing sneakers and weather appropriate clothes.

Up Coming Field Trip
We have scheduled a trip to Filasky’s Produce to pick pumpkins. The date is October 29th. We are able to take 4 parents with us, first come first serve. Please send permission slips and money back by October 8th or ASAP.

Scholastic Books
If you would like to order books from the October issue, please send orders by October 8th.

Citizenship Rewards
We are starting a new month for citizenship. Students who receive 15 or more green days will be able to participate in our First Grade Celebration at the end of the month.

Jeans Day
Friday September 25th our class is participating in jeans day. We returned all of our emergency cards so this is a free jeans day.

White Emergency Form
Please return all white emergency forms ASAP. The form was in the welcome packet. If you did not receive one, please let me know.

Field Trip
We are going on a field trip to Clayton Firehouse on October 7th. Please fill out the permission slip and send it back to school. If you need a new slip, please let me know.

Scholastic Books
If you would like to order books from the Scholastic Book Club please send your money and order form tomorrow, Sept 23rd.

Reminders

We made it! The first week has come to an end. We had a great week together. Below are a few reminders.

Blue Emergency Cards
If you have not sent your blue emergency card for your child, please send it ASAP. If everyone from our class sends the cards in by Sept 18th we get a free jeans day. If you need a new form please let me know.

Scholastic Book Orders
If you are ordering books from the September book order, please send the order and money in by September 23rd.

Class Emergency Papers
If you have not sent the white emergency form back to school, please send it ASAP. The form was in the Welcome Packet. If you need a new form please let me know.

Supply List:

1 roll of paper towels
1 box of tissues
1 container of disinfectant wipes or spray
1 container of hand sanitizer
4 folders (Plastic folders hold up longer!)- labeled w/ child’s name
2 composition books or journals
1 box of crayons
Pencils
Pencil box (optional)- labeled w/ child’s name
1 container of baby wipes
1 pair of child safe scissors- labeled w/ child’s name

Reminders

Thursday June 4th is our trip to Washington D.C. Zoo. Buses leave at 8:15. I am asking that everyone be in the room by 8:00 so children can use the bathroom and get their shirts. We will be returning at 4:30 so any students not having a chaperone need a ride home. Please be there no later than 4:30. Also please dress your child according to the weather. Jeans may be worn. If you would like your child to wear sun screen please apply at home.
Wednesday June 10th is our first grade picnic. Our class is bringing fruits and veggies. More information will be coming.
Thursday June 11th is field day. Our class is on the blue team. We will be wearing our blue zoo shirts for field day.

Washington D.C. Zoo
There are still a few open spots for chaperones on the Washington D.C. Zoo field trip. If you are interested in joining us please send a note ASAP letting me know. We will be going on June 4th. The cost is $18.
Field Day Shirts
There are still a few students who have not sent in $3 for field day shirts and paint. Please send the money in as soon as possible.
Cafeteria Balances
Please pay any negative balance your child may have with the cafeteria by the end of the school year.
Library Books
Please send any over due books in by May 30th. If you can not find the book that is due please send a replacement.

Field Day Shirts
I am purchasing shirts and paint for the students to make field day shirts. Please send $3 to cover the cost for the material.
Candy
The students will be celebrating May in Spanish. Senorita Morrin is asking for each student to bring a bag of wrapped candy to share with the class. No peanuts/peanut butter please.
End of the year
The end of the year is approaching. Please remember to send in all Library books that are due. Also please remember to pay any cafeteria balance.
Washington D.C. Zoo
We have 4 spots available for the Washington D.C. Zoo trip. If any adult would like to join us as chaperones the spots are first come first serve. If a student already has a chaperone attending they may bring a second! The cost is $18. If you are interested please let me know.

Up Coming Events

Killen’s Pond
Our field trip to Killen’s Pond is this Wednesday May 13th. We are leaving at 8:15 and returning at 2:15. Students may wear jeans and comfortable shoes. Please apply sunscreen before school. If your child did not sign up for a bag lunch from the cafeteria please send a bag lunch with them in the morning. If you are a chaperone going with us please be here by 8:00.
Field Day Shirt
We will be making field day shirts. Each student needs to send $3 to cover the cost of the shirts and paint. I will be buying the shirts and paint for the class.
Science Fair
The Science Fair is this Friday May 15th. Each class will be in the gym discussing their project. Our project was the chicks. We will have a display set up in the gym with our “chick” work.

Candy for Spanish
Please send in wrapped candy for a Cinco de Mayo party our class will be having in Spanish. Please send wrapped candy only.

Muffins For Mom
Please RSVP for our Mother’s Day celebration by Thursday May 7th.

Hand Sanitizer
We are out of sanitizer. If you could send a container it would be appreciated.

Monday April 27th
Our eggs are arriving! We will be placing our eggs in the incubator to begin to watch them grow.

Thursday April 30th
Our organisms are scheduled to arrive. We will have millipedes, pill bugs, fish and snails in our classroom. We will be observing and learning about living things in our Science Kit.

Monday May 4th
The Scholastic buy one get one free book fair begins. Our class will be attending Monday May 4th and Thursday May 7th. If you would like your child to purchase books please send money in on those days.

Tuesday May 5th
Dress up day. Students may dress their best for $2.

Wednesday May 6th
Breakfast with a buddy for grades K-3 from 7-7:30.
All you can eat spaghetti dinner theater 6-9 pm. Tickets are $5.

April 24th
We will have a make up Fitness Day. Please wear sneakers and athletic clothes.
Killen’s Pond permission slips and money are due. We have room for two more chaperones. First come, first serve!

April 30th
